My Poem: Things to do around the Toledo Museum of Art

After poems by Gary Snyder

Enter the galleries
Not expecting everything

Watch as others
Frolock and laugh amongst themselves
Hand in hand with their beloved

See how the Men in black
Pace back and back
Eyes darting to and fro
Studious, menacing gaze

Give assistance to someone in need
Be contemplative with every gleam

From one art to the next
Walking quietly
In deep appreciation

Wander outside
Towards Monroe and see
The sun’s graces illuminate
And then fade away

What to do here at the Toledo Museum, you say?
See to it that you’ve graced these man-made wonders
Contemplate on the artist, who smelled what you may smell
How could see just as you can see
Listened how you can listen
Taste the air just as you can

Feel the cold
As wind rushes by
And then write these words as they come to mind
